What My Local Government keeps about you, and who handles it. Last updated October 4, 2026.
The short version
We keep only what the site needs to work: your email address if you sign up, and the questions you ask the archive. No ads, no tracking scripts, and we don't sell or share your information.
Accounts (Ask the Archive)
- Your email address, when your account was created, and when you last signed in.
- The questions you ask, the answers, and what each one cost, so you can see your history and your monthly balance.
- Sign-in links expire after 30 minutes and work once; we store only a scrambled (hashed) form of them. Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for 30 days.
- If you continue with Google, we ask Google only for your email address, nothing else from your Google account.
The weekly email
If you subscribe, your email address and the governments and topics you chose are stored with our email service. Every email has a link to change your choices or unsubscribe.
Comment emails
The name and neighborhood you type on an agenda item are saved only in your own browser, to fill in drafts. When you ask for a draft, what you typed is sent to Claude to write it. The email is sent from your own email account, not by us.
Who handles your information
- Netlify hosts the site and keeps standard server logs.
- Neon stores the archive database, including accounts and questions.
- Resend sends sign-in links and the weekly email.
- Anthropic's Claude answers archive and budget questions and writes comment drafts, so those questions are sent to it.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
To keep costs fair, the site counts how many questions come from each connection per day. Those counts are held briefly and not saved.
Deleting your information
Email hello@mylocalgovernment.com and we'll delete your account, your questions, and your weekly-email subscription.
